Ladies and Gentlemen!
Founded in 1976, Dong Nai University (its precursor, Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical College – Campus No. 4 and then Dongnai Pedagogical College) has spent nearly a quarter of a century for training over 50,000 teachers, nearly 1,000 management staff from preschool to high school levels, and more than 2,000 bachelors of economics and engineers for businesses. DNU, however, has encountered incidents which are not expected by its students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
As a practice–based undergraduate institution that trains human resources for schools and businesses in the Dongnai province and the Southeast region of Vietnam, DNU has considered (1) identifying strategies for growth; (2) restructuring the organizational model and faculty positions; and (3) delegating functions and tasks to each department for optimization purposes as urgent tasks given rapid changes in science and technology.
With the motto: "Students are in the center, schools and businesses are the foundation, and lecturers and employees are the driving force of development," DNU designs its training curriculum and programs toward application and in answer to the question "study for what?". In order to ensure the proper orientation and assure the training quality, DNU's lecturers have to develop lectures and innovate teaching, learning and assessment methods to enable students themselves to (1) explore human knowledge; (2) link the past to the present knowledge; (3) retain knowledge and apply it in reality problem–solving; (4) articulate what they have learned and known to others; (5) create new knowledge; (6) desire a lifelong learning experience, among others. On top of that, DNU equips students with skills of team–working, work–related planning and management, and communication. These, we believe, would be helpful for students to cope with challenges in life and/or beneficial for employers to recruit qualified human resources trained by DNU.
Leaders at DNU wish to continue to serve the community and receive assistance and constructive suggestions from lecturers, current and former staff, partners (students and their families), schools and businesses, government agencies, international organizations, colleges, and universities in Vietnam and abroad.
We believe that with your continued support and contribution, DNU will overcome current difficulties, especially uncertainties caused by the Covid-19 to maintain and honor DNU's values as well as its brand name in training, scientific research, and community services that people expect.
With thanks,
Le Anh Duc, Ph.D.
